The 48 Hour Film Project

Pasted Graphic

The 48 Hour Film Project is a timed moviemaking competition held in different cities around the world each year. Teams compete to make a short movie, from 4-7 minutes long, in under 48 hours. Teams are assigned a random Genre, Character, Prop, and Line of Dialog on Friday night at 7PM and must drop off a completed movie using these elements by Sunday Night at the same time. The result is a weekend of creative, and sleepless, and sometimes frenzied work.

Mad Ned Productions usually fields a team of between about 15-20 people during the weekend, helping out in various ways., and for some of us this is the only time we see each other. There is a bit of a party atmosphere mixed in, with an open brainstorming session on Friday, shooting usually at the house or around town on Saturday, and a traditional wrap-party barbeque held at 6PM Saturday, unless filming demands it to be later. Sunday people come by to check on the rough cuts and dailies, and we usually wrap it up by 5PM Sunday so we can make the drive up to New Hampshire. Two days later, a bunch of us meet again for the screening to watch our efforts on the big screen! We have not been showered with awards but we have also never missed a deadline, something we are very proud of. Check out some of our films below!
