- Q: What is the purpose of this site?
- A: Mad Ned Productions is the name we came up with for our gang at work that got interested in making movies for fun. Our first feature, Devil Bunny Needs a Ham, took several years to complete, mostly because we gave up for a while and went back to it later. That was five years ago, and we've been keeping busy, releasing several other features including Carpool, Adapt*Her, and our 48 hour film project entry,The Tune-Up. Details of these can be found on the site, along with some personal/family projects I have worked on
Q: Who is on the Mad Ned Productions Team?
A: We have an all-volunteer army, mostly consisting of people who work together in the same office. Here's a quick rundown of some of the regulars: - Q: Where did the 'Mad Ned' name come from?
- A: Somewhere in the middle of fiilming Devil Bunny, after hatching schemes to film in our office after work, and dress people up in bunny costumes and drag, I aquired the nickname. We decided that the whole thing was essentially 'Mad Ned Productions'
- Q: What's all this 'Devil Bunny Needs a Ham' stuff about?
- A: Devil Bunny is a board game made by a company called Cheapass Games. It's a really simple game but has a kooky story on the cover about how the tokens in the game are actually Sous Chefs climbing a building, trying to avoid the Devil Bunny, who for whatever reason wants a ham, and for whatever reason thinks knocking people off the building will help him get it. The point of the game is to climb the building and get to the top.
We used to play this at lunch quite a bit back in 2001, and for whatever reason we started talking about making a movie out of it. I wrote a script and then everyone wanted a part, it was a running joke. We filmed about 50% or more of it, then realized that the hard stuff like climbing building was going to be nearly impossible to film (also, 9/11 didnt help our chances to film near tall buildings). We shut the project down at shelved it, but my friends kept after me to finish, so we re-edited the film without one of the characters (Timmy), took the existing footage, and cobbled a film together out of it. The rest is history, and it continues to be a running joke of sorts amongst people I know. - Q: Where can I get a copy of Mad Ned Films?
- A: Most are available on YouTube, search for 'madnedproductions'. If you would like DVD copies or have other inquiries of our catalog, send mail to

- Q: What's currently happening in Mad Ned Productions?
- A: We recently finished Sword of Lightning, Sword of Thunder, a movie collaboration with the Worcester Fencing Club. In August 2008, the WFC held a one week summer movie camp, teaching swordplay and the art of sword fighting in movies. At the end of the week, the campers got the chance to make a movie of their own, and Mad Ned Productions was on hand to help them turn it into reality. We will be participating in the February 2009 camp as well, and perhaps some smaller projects in the middle, stay tuned.
- Q: Can I get involved with Mad Ned Productions?
- A: Yes! We don't really pay though, it's a usually (but not always) a volunteer/slave labor operation. But if you are interested in having fun, learning about movie making, and hanging out with some people who are probably too old to be movie making, drop us a line at
